New poster for Spike Lee’s Oldboy

July 8th, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

While Hollywood remakes often don’t garner much of a response ( a positive one anyway), having the words “A Spike Lee Joint” attached to a project it is an instant way to grab some attention.  While I don’t really like the idea of a remake of Park Chan-wook‘s Oldboy, even one done by Spike Lee, I tell you what I’m interested in seeing how it turns out.

Josh Brolin pops up center stage in this new poster, with a new trailer to follow on wednesday.

“OLDBOY follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement without any indication of his captor’s motive. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment. His quest for revenge leads him into an ill-fated relationship with a young social worker (Elizabeth Olsen) and ultimately to an illusive man (Sharlto Copley) who allegedly holds the key to his salvation.”

The Spike Lee movie stars: Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley, Samuel L. Jackson, Richard Portnow, Michael Imperioli, Max Casella, Elvis Nolasco, James Ransone, Hannah Ware, Caitlin Dulany, Linda Emond, and Grey Damon.

The movie releases on October 25th, 2013.
