Paul Giamatti says he’ll be back in The Amazing Spider-Man 3

October 4th, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

While The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hasn’t released an official trailer yet and all the pieces for its sequel are starting to fall into place. Just two days ago it was revealed that the sequel’s screenwriters Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner have been brought back to script the third movie in the series. Now it seems that one of the villain’s from next summer’s movie will also be returning.

In a recent interview with Collider, Paul Giamatti confirmed that he signed a multi-picture deal to play Aleksei Sytsevich aka The Rhino in the series and believes he’ll return for the third film:

“I think I’m only doing the next movie, I don’t think I’m in the next-next movie,”

There’s also been tons of talks and rumors about the fourth film in the series featuring the Sinister Six, but Giamatti says no one has told him any exact details on that just yet. Even though the studio has teased it he says:

“They’ve not told me anything hard and fast about that.”

That seems to contradict an earlier statement from Jaime Fox about the super villain group indeed being talked about.

Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti, Chris Cooper, Felicity Jones and Sally Field.

The film is set to swing into theaters May 2nd, 2014. While the third film is currently set for release on June 10, 2016 and a fourth film in the franchise to follow on May 4, 2018.

The video below has the Collider interview with Giamatti about Parkland. The Spider-Man talk begins at around 3:40.
