We just reported earlier in the week that actor Toby Kebbell looks all set for the role of Victor von Doom in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, now Nerdist reports that the character won’t be facing Marvel’s first family by himself. He’ll be aided by his ever loyal Doombots. The site reports that the character will be using the Doombots as drones in the film which he can control “telekinetically.”
This is not yet confirmed so we’ll file it under rumor for now.
First introduced in 1962’s Fantastic Four #5, the Doombots are exact physical and mental duplicates of Doom. They are designed with psionic disguising circuitry that is capable of fooling low level telepaths into accepting them as the real Dr. Doom. Their advanced A.I. program makes them believe themselves to be the real Doom, except when they are in the presence of Doom or another Doombot. They were created to replace Doom whenever he cannot be present at a situation, or whenever he does not want to risk his own life.
The cast includes Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell who are aboard as the main heroes.
Josh Trank will direct the big screen adaptation from a screenplay by Simon Kinberg.
The Fantastic Four is currently set for a release on June 19th, 2015.
