Sean Bean is returning to Northern Ireland for another fantasy TV role.
The actor, who played Eddard Stark in Game of Thrones, also filmed over on our green shores, will star in the six-part The Frankenstein Chronicles for ITV.
The series has been created by Emmy-nominated director and writer Benjamin Ross who directed The Young Poisoner’s Handbook and Barry Langford, writer of Torte Bluma.
The series will revolve around the discovery of a dead child made up of various body parts on the Thames at the turn of the century and the investigation that follows takes Bean’s character, Marlott, into a horrific world that he can’t really comprehend.
“The Frankenstein Chronicles is an epic re-working of one of literature and cinema’s most iconic stories,” says November. “We’re delighted to be working with Benjamin Ross, Barry Langford and the team at Rainmark Films with the vision to bring Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein back to life, “ says ITV’s Director of Drama, Steve November.
This feels like a British take on Penny Dreadful in many ways.. but can it live up to that? Time will tell…
