WATCH: Jamie Foxx reveals he was once approached to play Luke Cage

August 21st, 2014 by Edwin Torres Jr Comments

Ever since the Marvel Netflix shows were announced (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist), fans have been wondering who would be playing the super heroes. So far we know that Charlie Cox is Matt Murdock aka Daredevil.

One fan favorite in particular is long overdue: Luke Cage.

In an interview with IGN, Jamie Foxx discusses his love of superheroes and what drew him to comic book characters when he was young. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 actor also revealed that he was approached to play Luke Cage “back in the day.”

This must have been when John Singleton was set to direct a Luke Cage movie for Colombia Pictures, before the rights for Cage reverted back to Marvel. Sadly Foxx doesn’t reveal anything else about the Luke Cage role or the movie , simply saying that things didn’t work out.

This isn’t the first time an actor has revealed he was involved in the role of Luke Cage though, Idris Elba has said that he was once in talks as well.
