We’ve known for well over a year now (here) that Dwayne Johnston was set to play Shazam! villain Black Adam in the movie that is now set to be part of the DC Cinematic Universe.
And we have been waiting ever since on word of who was set to play Shazam himself, with many thinking Johnston could end up playing both roles.
And then we heard that John Cena might be in the running… no, really.
However, now it seems that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie star – he’s Raphael – Alan Ritchson is the man for the role after he took to Twitter earlier today (below) and seems to have confirmed he’s playing the superhero who is the alter-ego of a young boy called Billy Batson who, when he utters the magical word ‘Shazam!’, becomes a hero as powerful as Superman but with a child’s innocence…
The actor is no stranger to the DC world as he played Aquaman in Smallville, and now he looks like he’s playing another DC character… hey, if it works for Ryan Reynold, Chris Evans and Michael B Jordan, who are we to argue?
We’re hearing no other confirmation on this except for the Tweet, so treat it as ‘possibly’ for now, but we’d imagine we’ll know one way or the other soon enough…
@twhitt126 yup!
