Although the title appears to be changing every other week, one thing can be said for sure; there is a Prometheus sequel happening. First, it was called Alien: Paradise Lost and now it’s calledAlien: Covenant. Next week, it might be called Alien: The Ever Changing Sequel/Prequel to Prometheus. Whatever it’s called, we know we can expect it to start filming in early 2016.

As the shoot date in Australia approaches, reports Squareeyed, Scott’s been dropping some hints about what we can expect from his next Alien adventure – including one particularly telling one involving Michael Fassbender’s character, David.

Simply put, we’ll see two versions of the android in Alien: Covenant, both played, of course, by Fassbender himself. The news comes via Scified, which has uncovered two separate reports from Australian news of this spoilery plot point. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Scott had this to say: “Scott said it would follow on from 2012’s Prometheus and would have Michael Fassbender returning as both android David and a doppelganger.”

The website SBS backed that up with the following: “Scott said Alien: Covenant will pick up from the end of Prometheus, and see Fassbender playing two versions of his android character, David.”

A few weeks ago, Fox released a synopsis for Alien: Covenant, which discussed David by name, but neglected to mention Noomi Rapace’s character, Elizabeth Shaw. Here’s the synopsis again in case you missed it:

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

Scott has now confirmed that Rapace is indeed returning as Shaw, and has also described the mysterious “uncharted paradise we’ll see in the sequel.”

“So I’m now going to the next one, which is the next evolution directly connected with the first one, which was [with] Shaw…” Scott said, according to THR. “Shooting will be a mix of and studio shoots with location requiring monumental forest and monumental rock and the rest will be in the studio with fairly formidable CGI.”

What do you make of these new spoiler-y details about Alien: Covenant? Are you more excited, or distinctly indifferent? We’ll have more news about Alien: Covenant as we get it!
