With everyone fussing over Ben Affleck’s stepping down as director of The Batman over at Warners/DC, it is easy to miss the other big news from the studio… the Aquaman movie has cast its main villain: Black Manta.
Yes, according to reports, casting has been going into over drive in the last fortnight and the studio has offered the role to The Get Down star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (pictured below).
Director James Wan is now hoping that the actor will take the role as talks are currently underway for the movie which is set to begin filming in April.
The actor was one of the final choices to star as Lando Calrissian in the now filming Han Solo movie so this will be a big role for him after his much acclaimed role in The Get Down.
The cast is certainly shaping up nicely:
The Aquaman movie has already cast Jason Momoa in the lead role, along with Amber Heard as Mera, Queen of Atlantis, Willem Dafoe scientist Dr Vulko and Patrick Wilson as Orm, Aquaman’s half-brother and villain…
Aquaman washes ashore on October 5th, 2018
