Aubrey Plaza and Brian Tyree Henry join Child’s Play reboot

September 20th, 2018 by Marc Comments

It looks like the Child’s Play reboot has started adding names to its cast.

Reports are coming in that the new take on Child’s Play story has cast – or is very close to casting – Legion’s Aubrey Plaza and Atlanta’s Brian Tyree Henry (both below) with word being Plaza will play the mother of the child who ‘owns’ Chucky, while Henry is likely playing the detective investigating, presumably, a bizarre spate of murders involving the doll.

The contemporary reboot is believed to follow a group of kids (a la It and Stranger Things), and a technologically-advanced doll that enters their world.

This is a departure from the original movie which saw a serial killer possess a doll as he was dying in a toy store; he then used the doll to kill, maim and slaughter all around him for, what, seven movies?

Anyway, these are two superb actors and we’re excited to know that the reboot is going for talented actors as it suggests it will aim above cheap schlocky horror. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

In the meanwhile, there is also more sequels and a TV series based on the already existing Chucky series coming too… this link will explain it all.

Friends to the end?
