Black Adam news on how it connects to the wider DCEU and how big an impact it will have…

September 15th, 2020 by Marc Comments

After the teaser and details about the appearance of the Justice Society of America at DC Fandome (here), we have been excited for more details on the DCEU Black Adam movie.

And now, thanks to president of production at Seven Bucks Productions, Hiram Garcia, close associate and friend of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, we have some.

Garcia, and sister Dany produced Johnson hits such as Hobbs and Shaw, Jumanji and now Black Adam

“We [he and Johnson] are so excited to be in the superhero space,” he said.

“We have been dreaming of doing a movie like this for ages, so to be able to partner up with DC and to really put ourselves into the DC Universe in a big way with the ambitions that we have, we are so, so, so excited.”

He reveals the movie will begin production in “the first quarter of next year”.

As for the story, trying to stay away from spoilers, he says: “The journey we’re going to put Black Adam on, it’s very compelling — what he’s gone through and what you’re going to see on-screen is going to be amazing to watch play out, and then when you couple that with how powerful every character is who is going to be in the universe, it’s really going to heat things up. We have a lot of fun saying that the hierarchy of the power in the DC Universe is going to change because when Black Adam arrives, everyone needs to watch out because he’s going to change the game.”

And what of the introduction to the big screen of the JSA, he gets giddy about what is to come: “We all have unified, giant ambitions for what we want to do with these characters and the JSA and all those new members we’re introducing from Hawkman to Atom Smasher to Cyclone and Doctor Fate. It’s an opportunity to put ourselves in the DC Universe, and really start to create a fun group of characters that audiences haven’t had the chance to see, but that a lot of them are familiar with.”

He also seems to address the fact that long, long ago this movie was not connected to the wider DCEU when it was still a New Line solo project and how they’re making sure it’s all connected: “DC has had so much success lately with “Wonder Woman” and “Shazam,” which Seven Bucks produced. Have you discussed specific plans with DC in regards to how-and-when these characters will crossover and fold into other properties in the DC Universe? We’re working closely with DC in terms of what the plan is for how everyone fits together. It’s still in the works, but obviously “Shazam” exists in the “Black Adam” universe. I can just say that we have very big ambitions for “Black Adam” and all of the characters that we’re introducing. How they’re going to connect with other characters is still all being laid out, but I think fans are going to be happy, ultimately, with the way we end up guiding it.”

So it looks like Black Adam is set to leave a big dent on the DCEU and I’m all here for that!

What say you all? Let me know…
