Bruce Campbell confirms Evil Dead 5 details and name

June 8th, 2020 by Marc Comments

It looks like the new Evil Dead movie is further on than previously thought according to star Bruce Campbell.

Speaking to Empire Magazine for their most recent ‘Heroes’ special, the star has revealed that the fifth Evil Dead is well underway and is something very new.

Campbell himself has retired from fighting Deadites (although his Ash Vs Evil Dead costars believe he could be talked around (Here)) so there’s a whole new direction coming for the franchise and the Necromonicon.

“We’re just getting off the phone with Lee Cronin, who is writing and directing the next Evil Dead,” he says.

“It’s called Evil Dead Now. Sam handpicked Lee – he did a cool movie called The Hole In The Ground. We’re going to get that sucker out as soon as practical.”

Evil Dead did have a brief reboot in 2013 with Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead which starred a whole new deadite slayer in the form of Jane Levy who took the movie into a much welcomed full-on horror return, however, it seems the new movie – and any further ones – will ignore the original trilogy and the reboot.

“From this point forward, they kind of have to stand on their own. Which is fine. And liberating,” Campbell said.

“You could have different heroes, different heroines in this case. This one’s gonna be a little more dynamic.

“We just want to keep the series current. And the mantra, really, is that our heroes and heroines are just regular people. That’s what we’re going to continue.”

Personally, I would have said before 2013 that the idea of an Evil Dead movie without Campbell was a waste of time, but I loved Alvarez’s movie, so I trust in this… but, I’m not going to lie, there’s only one Ash Williams.

What say you all? Let me know your thoughts?
