Christoph Waltz will return for another James Bond movie… under one condition

January 4th, 2016 by Matt Gault Comments

Christoph Waltz has signed on for two more Bond films, report Screenrant via Squareeyed, but under one very particular stipulation. The actor, who played the classic villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld in Spectre, will only return if Daniel Craig reprises his role as 007.

According to a recent report in The Daily Mirror, Waltz will continue his stint as the iconically scarred Bond villain as long as Craig returns for what would be a fifth outing as Bond: “Christoph could make a brilliant ongoing man for Bond to battle like in the old days,” a source said.

“But the important clincher of it is that Blofeld can only work with Daniel back in the role to keep continuity.”

Craig courted controversy in the build-up to Spectre after saying he would “rather slash my wrists” than play Bond again, but then backtracked and stated he was simply unable to confirm if he was coming back.

There were even bigger hints dropped by director Sam Mendes, who teased that the latest film together with the first three of Craig’s run was “completion”.

But Daniel delighted producers with his fourth 007 movie, SPECTRE, which made a staggering £41.3million in its opening week in the UK.

Producer Michael G Wilson seemed to confirm they expect to have Craig for a fifth time, saying: “We think we’ve got him but we don’t have a contract.”

A Bond source said: “Daniel has been a huge success as 007 and is loved by fans so he isn’t going anywhere yet.

“The directors know they would be daft to replace him at a stage where he is so popular. It’s almost certain he will do one more outing as Bond.

“And with the potential for Judi Dench to return in flashback form as M, the storyline for Daniel Craig as Bond appears far from over.”

Wait, Judi Dench returning in flashback? Hmmmmmm… we’re taking that with a pinch of salt but there IS potential there.
