CONFIRMED: Channing Tatum IS cast as Gambit in, em, future X-Men movie… UPDATED

May 15th, 2014 by Marc Comments

After we reported a few weeks ago that Channing Tatum had spoken to movie producers about playing Gambit in an upcoming X-Men movie (here), we figured it was a done deal…

And we were right.

The Donner’s Company head and X-Men: Days of Future Past producer Lauren Donner has just confirmed, thanks to CBM, that Tatum is cast as Gambit… she’s just not sure when we’ll see him as the character – be in in X-Men Age of Apocalypse, Wolverine 3 or his own movie (?).

We sort of feel bad for Taylor Kitsch who played the character in the first Wolverine movie because, let’s be honest, the issues with that movie weren’t his fault.

UPDATED:

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Gambit may appear in X-Men: Age Of Apocalypse and then on to bigger things: “Multiple sources say that Tatum will get a stand-alone spinoff, with his version of Gambit being introduced in X-Men: Apocalypse. The stand-alone film is still in development, however, and no director has been attached.”
