We’ve known for ages now that a new Die Hard movie was coming that wold see Bruce Willis’ John McClane return along with a younger actor playing a young McClane in a section of the movie that would take place in the 1970s, before Die Hard, the original movie in the franchise.
We’ve been following the story for a while now (here, here and here) and it seems that things may be moving ahead on the project.
Director Len Wiseman – who directed Live Free Or Die Hard which we openly admit to liking up until the last twenty minutes – has confirmed that the movie is soon for production.
The director confirmed that the movie wold see the return of McClane’s estranged wife, Holly Gennero – played in the first two movies by Bonnie Bedelia before, while be mentioned in the later movies, being taken out of the franchise.
Now, it seems a young actress will play the characters but, he teased, “There may very well be [a reunion]”.
The script will be penned by The Conjuring writers Chad and Carey Hayes and will see present-day McClane involved in a case that he was involved in as a rookie: “It’s still working in parallel, cutting back and forth, what we see in the ‘70s has ramifications on present day Bruce,” Wiseman said.
It also seems that Willis himself is involved in choosing the actor to portray the younger him.
What say you all? Should they let Die Hard just, em, die hard? Let us know….
