OK, so we always knew that another Die Hard would happen, even though A Good Day To Die Hard was pretty much the worst thing we’ve ever seen.
Heck, we reported on it a while back (here), so we were confident it was only a matter of time.
We didn’t see this coming, though.
It seems that FOX want Live Free Or Die Hard director Len Wiseman to come back and make the latest John McClane movie. But there’s a twist. It seems producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura is calling it Die Hard: Year One and there’s a search on for a writer who can make it a prequel AND a sequel.
Obviously.
So the plan is this: It will open and close modern day with Bruce Willis’ John McClane but the bulk of the movie will take place in 1979 back when McClane was more inclined to Die Easy, presumably. We reckon it might be that the modern character is fighting someone he fought back in the day and the story will be told over two time periods.
It is unknown if this is a passing of the torch sort of deal were a seventh movie – if it happens – will follow the younger McClane (is Joseph Gordon Levitt free?) but we’d imagine it’s the direction it would like to go in.
Word is that FOX really want this to work and get John McClane back in the world.
We’re always up for more McClane but this has us scratching our heads a little.
What do you all think?
Yippee Ki-yay!
