A new image of Jason Momoa as Aquaman from the standalone movie has been released and at first it’s not terribly different than the one we saw recently…
However, if you look closely, we might be able to draw your attention to the bottom right-hand-corner which may give us our first (fleeting) look at Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s villainous Black Manta.
In the comics Manta (above) wears armour that has a series of pipes protruding and if you look at the image of Momoa, you’ll see that whoever is at the bottom of the image also has pipes on his armour.
Director James Wan wan, talking about Aquaman in the movie, had this to say: “He doesn’t quite fit in, but as the story progresses, he realizes he’s the best of both worlds [above and below the sea],” said Wan.
“Circumstances allow him to grow as a human being and then realize the bigger picture of it all and what it means to have these abilities.”
As for the realm of Atlantic in the movie, Wan says it was a unique chance to “make something that is from our planet but at the same time, it’s a visual we’re not familiar with.”
Aquaman hits cinemas on December 21st, 2018.
