Gal Gadot’s Gisele set for return in Fast X?

December 28th, 2022 by Marc Comments

I mean… really?

So, I have made no secret over the last few years of my love for the Fast & Furious franchise and its position at the top of my guilty pleasures list but even I am a bit dumbfounded by this potential bit of news.

So, we know that Gal Gadot – who we all adore here at FTN towers – may no longer be Wonder Woman in the DCEU (here) and we k ow that, whatever happens, we’ll see here again as she’s got the beauty and the talent to be around for a ling time, but we first fell in love with Gadot when she appeared as Gisele Yashar in Fast & Furious (waaaaaaaay back in 2009),

She and our favourite F&F character, Han (played by Sung Kang), soon became our favourite couple in the series until, as all good things must, it came to an end. Thanks to the twisty nature of the franchise, Han died in 2006’s Tokyo Drift, while Gisele died in 2013’s Fast & Furious 6, but the duo never got the happy ending they deserved.

But then, in Fast& Furious 9 last year, Han returned to the series, his death seemingly stricken from the record. And Kang started teasing that Gisele’s return wasn’t out of the question at all (here), saying: “Well, hey, anything is possible.

“If you guys start a hashtag ‘Bring back Gisele,’ it’s very possible.” although he also conceded at the time that Wonder Woman star Gadot “is a little busy right now, she’s saving the world.”

Well, she may not be Wonder Woman anymore and, even if she is (and we hope James Gunn has the good sense to keep her in the role), word has it she’s coming back to the Fast series with Fast X next May, joining fellow DCEU hero Jason Momoa who is the new villain of the series.

While there’s nothing concrete to report at this stage, it seems that all those in the know, say she’s set to return to the series and while more Gal Gadot will never not be welcome and we would love nothing more than to see Gisele and Han walk off into the sunset (finally) together, it would definitely mean that stakes of the franchise are no longer of any weight at all.

Why? Well, Han wasn’t the first ‘dead’ character to return in the series, with Luke Evan’s Owen Shaw being killed off (also in Fast & Furious 6 and in a similar fashion to Gisele, with them both being essentially dropped from a moving plane) – this means that, at this stage, characters are more likely to return to life than then are in the MCU.

But look, the F&F movies are, at this stage, basically superhero movies and in Fast 9, while it wasn’t exactly subtle, Tyrese Gibson’s Roman pondered that they couldn’t die and that perhaps they were invulnerable… unlikely but at least we’re prepared.

Interestingly, Gadot and Kang’s Gisele and Han than previously been set to appear in Furious 7 and even appear in the credits, despite not appearing in the movie with Han set to appear in a flashback at Dom (Vin Diesel) and Letty’s (Michelle Rodriquez) wedding, however, his appearance was deemed confusing as audiences might think Han was still alive (which, ironically, he now it). Gadot’s Gisele was meant to be revealed as the person who rescued Letty from the car crash that everyone thought killed her earlier in the series… this would have made sense as it would explain why she became a good guy after being introduced originally as a villain.

Anyways, all this is to basically say that we’re expecting to see Gadot back in the next movie, we just hope it’s in a flashback OR to give her and Han their happy ending.

That’s my thoughts on it all anyway, what about you lovely people? Let me know, gang.

Fast X is expected to arrive in theaters on May 19, 2023.
