In the latest case of “did they really just make a crowdfunding campaign for that?” A group of builders and architects want to construct a life-size, full-stop, people WILL live in this version of Minas Tirith from Lord of the Rings. Don’t believe me? Check out their Indiegogo page.

See? Told you they were serious!

“We are an ambitious team of architects and structural engineers who are passionate about creating a beautiful, inspirational and fully-functioning replica of Peter Jackson’s depiction of Minas Tirith, as seen in his Lord of the Rings films,” Wilson wrote on the campaign’s IndieGoGo page.

“We all share a love of Tolkien’s work, and a desire to challenge the common perception of community and architecture. We believe that, in realising Minas Tirith, we can create not only the most remarkable tourist attraction on the planet, but also a wonderfully unique place to live and work.”

Oh yeah, this is happening…or at least the campaign is happening. And it’s actually building steam…to an extent. They have over 2000 backers so far. Yes, they’re a LONG way from their goal. But hey, weirder things have happened.
