If there’s one Star Wars spin-off that gets loads of chatter despite having no official word it’s the Obi-Wan movie.
Heck, even Kathleen Kennedy wouldn’t deny it might happen (here) – but now a new rumour has emerged saying that not only is it moving ahead, but a writer is already attached.
Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail is reportedly in talks with Lucasfilm to bring Obi-Wan Kenobi back to the big screen (hopefully in the form of Ewan McGregor): “As far as we know, this might only be a writing gig for Sam Esmail but he’s directed fifteen episodes of Mr. Robot between seasons one and two, along with a couple of films like the indie Comet.
“Sam’s representation at CAA apparently includes power agent Bryan Lourd. The ex-boyfriend of Carrie Fisher and father to their actress daughter Billie Lourd (The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi).”
Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy said at Star Wars Celebration last week that we could have an announced third Anthology movie as early as this summer, so in fairness it could line up, time wise.
As of this time there’s no official word about what the next anthology will be after Han Solo or who will be involved but we reckon this is as likely as any other rumour…
What do you guys think?
