Is this who Simon Pegg is playing in Star Wars: The Force Awakens?

We’ve known for a long time that Simon Pegg was going to pop up in Star Wars: The Force Awakens in some shape or form. Way back at the start of production, we saw the Star Trek actor appear in a behind-the-scenes shot with his mask off.

Then, in a later interview, Pegg confirmed his presence in J.J. Abrams’ film and said he was going to play a “troll-like character with a “downturned nose,” also adding that he was “an angry-looking oaf.”

Well, considering those characteristics, the eagle-eyed fans over at SlashFilm may have realised who Pegg is playing. Take a look at the photo below and tell us that doesn’t match the description to that given by Pegg.

As you can clearly see, Abrams can be seen in the bottom image with Daisy Ridley (Rey) and a troll-like character who indeed has a downturned nose and looks rather angry. Sound familiar? Definitely seems to be Pegg in his full get-up. You can catch it in this clip below.

Pegg previously worked with Abrams on Mission Impossible 3 and the two most recent Star Trek films, and as a huge fan of the franchise, there was no way we weren’t going to get a sneaky bit of Pegg in there.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is released in UK cinemas on December 17, and worldwide on December 18.
