While we are excited to go 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea with Bryan Singer in the next couple of years, we should strap in because Captain Nemo has another outing coming…

Disney has hired James Mangold, director of Wolverine, to handle their 20,000 Leagues prequel movie, Captain Nemo. No relation to Singer’s movie which is with FOX.

The Disney version will be a prequel to the 1954 movie starring Kirk Douglas and James Mason and will tell the story of how Nemo built his famous submarine, the Nautilus.

The original movie – and Singer’s version – were based on Jules Verne’s classic novel of the same name.

You may remember that Nemo was also one of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Let’s hope these versions can deliver more than that one did (yes, we know, it’s a guilty pleasure).
