Joel Edgerton wants to return to Star Wars as Uncle Owen in Obi-Wan standalone

March 1st, 2018 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

The rumours of an Obi-Wan movie are gathering pace with Stephen Daldry in talks to direct and Ewan McGregor is basically wandering around in his old Jedi robes with a lightsaber on his hip and now the prequels’ Uncle Owen himself, Joel Edgerton, has been talking about the possibility of reprising his role in the movie.

While fielding questions from Yahoo Movies during his presser for Jenifer Laurence vehicle Red Sparrow, Edgerton was asked if he’d be interested in returning to the Star Wars Universe as the character he portrayed in Attack of the Clone and Revenge of the Sith

Edgerton responded with “First part of your question is: could he come back? Yes. Should he come back? Maybe even more of a yeah! ”

“I think me and Ewan and Liam Neeson in a movie is pretty good. Absolutely! I’d be totally down.”

It’s curious he mentioned Liam Neeson, as the actor (from our own homeland) has also expressed interest in returning (here).

Don’t forget that Owen is a bit of a bad ass and his relationship with Obi-Wan would definitely be worth exploring:

As I have said before I love Star Wars and I’m hyped for an Obi-Wan movie.
