Just to prove that originality is dead, a Ferris Bueller’s Day Off sequel is coming

August 22nd, 2022 by Marc Comments

For years, as a massive fan of 1986’s Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, I used to hope that someday we’d get a sequel that would catch up with Ferris (Matthew Broderick), Cameron (Alan Ruck) and Sloane (Mia Sara); I always tried to imagine what became of the trio of friends when they left school and got chewed up by the real world.

And briefly when I heard about this, I thought that maybe that was what we were getting and I was slightly optimistic.

But we are not getting that movie. Instead we’re getting a movie called Sam and Victor’s Day Off.

‘Who are Sam and Victor?’ I hear you ask and you may well as they were never named in the original movie.

Sam and Victor are the two guys, played in the original movie by Richard Edson and Larry “Flash” Jenkins, who took Cameron’s car for a joy ride while Ferris, Cameron and Sloane were out enjoying the forbidden fruits of the city. Yes, the guys who worked in the car park.

Don’t recall? Check out the clip below and it might jog your memory.

Ok, so i have been pretty negative so far but there is a ray of sunshine in this totally unforeseen development: it’s from Cobra Kai creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald with horror movie Bitch Ass’ Bill Posley writing.

Given the events of the movie and where these characters fit in the original story, it’s almost a cert that we will not see Ferris, Cameron or Sloane appear in movie.

That’s all I have guys, make of this what you will.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
