Kevin Feige wants to get Blade into the MCU… at some point

June 27th, 2017 by Marc Comments

If there’s one character we would really love to see come into the MCU – and we know we’re not alone here – it’s Blade.

And, despite Kevin Feige saying here were no plans for Blade in the immediate future (here) despite numerous rumours over the years (here).

However…

Feige has addressed the issue again and, while not giving anything solid about the character’s  future, he does admit that he’d like to see Blade in the MCU… at some point.

“We think it would be cool, someday” Feige says.

“My tenure at Marvel started 17 years ago, and there were two things that sort of launched the modern era. One was X-Men, which was the first thing that people said, “Oh, there’s life here.” But a few years before that, there was Blade. A character nobody had heard of at all, had only appeared in a few issues of Tomb of Dracula or something, turned into a big franchise.

“That was always a great lesson for me, where you go, “It doesn’t matter how well known the character is, it matters how cool the movie is.” Which, many years later, would be the reason we do Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange. I think Blade is a legacy character now, and I think it would be fun to do something with him one day.”

We reckon there’s a good chance that Blade could pop up in future Netflix shows as he seems like he’d belong in the darker side of the MCU… but then, we’d really like to see him throw down with Doctor Strange and maybe the Avengers.

What say you all, is the Daywalker likely to come to the MCU? Do you want him to?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
