Always a man to blur the waters between legitimate spoilers and what can only be described as complete and utter bantha fodder, Mark Hamill once again had the Internet guessing whether or not he has just dropped a massive spoiler about his future in Star Wars… only to set the record straight in super quick time.

In a recent interview with Ray Davies of the Kinks for The Big Issue – of all places – Hamill talked about the future of Luke, and it sounded like it spelt dark times ahead. “I finish Episode VIII, and then I’m out of work,” he said, seemingly eluding to the fact that he’s either unsure of his involvement with Episode IX, or more sinisterly, Episode VIII clearly spells a sudden end for him.

Den of Geek, who zeroed in on the quote, didn’t give much more when it came to details about how the question was phrased, leaving Hamill himself to dismiss it as simply Internet miscommunication – shame on you Den of Geeks, looking for those clicks!

He did so, with this Tweet:

Write this one up to the Internet blowing things way out of proportion again, sorry.

What do you think Luke’s fate will be in Episode VIII? Will he live to die another day, or is this it for him? Let us know over on Facebook.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
