Remember Michael Keaton was in talks for the villain role in Spider-man: Homecoming but then pulled out (here)?
And that role was rumoured to be The Vulture?
Well, in a twist of fate, it seems Keaton is not just back in talks, but damned near to signing on.
Although just who the villain is isn’t confirmed yet, if Keaton says yes – and all pointers are indicating he will – then he’ll join Tom Holland as Spidey and will be directed by Jon Watts. Marisa Tomei will play Aunt May and Zendaya is in there too but no word on as who.
Now, to add fuel to the flames, JoBlo are reporting that: “We can confirm that not only is The Vulture in the film, but he is, in fact, the main villain. But, he’s not the only bad guy in the mix. The Vulture will be aided by none other than The Tinkerer, who will help him build his suit with recovered Chitauri tech from the Battle of New York.”
Interesting and, if true, we think it’s fair to say Keaton IS Vulture.
In related news, JoBlo are also reporting a very fun big of news about Spidey’s suit in the solo movie – the return of the web-wings under his arms! How awesome is that?! (continues after pic)
They report: “If you stuck it out for the end credits of Civil War you got to see Peter Parker discover Stark’s costume Easter Egg for the web shooters that also featured Spidey’s signature signal light. Well, it looks like we’ll be seeing more old-school signature Spidey features, as Stark will also be supplying the classic Web Wings from the comics that will be able to deploy as needed. So, it appears Spider-Man is going back to his Stan Lee/Steve Ditko roots and that is pretty badass.”
One of my favourite things in the classic Spidey suit was the web-wings and with every incarnate of the character I was always stoked to see if they appeared… I’ll be one happy Spider-man fan of this pans out.
We’re BIG fans of Keaton and we are really hoping to see him back in a major superhero movie… just, if you do get him Marvel, please don’t kill him off!
