OK, so remember a couple of weeks ago we reported that Zod actor, Michael Shannon, had been quoted as saying that he was back in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (he is in some capacity, we know that) and that he would be wearing… giant flippers (here).

Well, we pointed at the time that we thought it was A) taken out of context B) Shannon didn’t mean to say flippers or C) total nonsense.

And now we may have an answer as Shannon seems to have withdrawn his comments: “Somebody was asking me about this in New York and I made up some ridiculous bulls**t answer about how my character Zod has flippers, and this went viral on the Internet or something and people have been asking me about that. That is so obviously a complete bulls**t story, right? But people took it seriously.”

We think the original comment is certainly out of context in one way or other, and never really bought into it, though we did think it was curious.

The actor did talk a little about his role in the movie again, though. But we’e not convinced, given that we saw him (albeit dead) in the trailer (here), that he’s entirely to be trusted: “The thing about the whole Krypton universe, apparently, is that even when you destroy them, there are ghosts. The first [film ], Jor-El is there even though he’s been dead for lord knows how long… I went over and did some voice-over stuff because it’s like that ghost thing. But I don’t know if I’m supposed to say that. I get very nervous.”

We know of course that Jor-el wasn’t a ghost in Man of Steel, so we’re applying a LARGE pinch of salt here…

But we want to know what you think.

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill in the role of Clark Kent/Superman, and Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film also stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane returning from Man of Steel, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and Holly Hunter in a role newly created for the film. Jason Momoa will also be making an appearance as Aquaman.

Directed by Zack Snyder, written by Chris Terrio, from a screenplay by David S. Goyer, the film is produced by Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Wesley Coller, David S. Goyer and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is set to open worldwide on March 25, 2016.
