Michelle Rodriguez not sure if she’s going to come back for Fast & Furious 9

February 8th, 2019 by Marc Comments

It looks like Fast & Furious 9 may be missing a big part of its cast if actress Michelle Rodriguez is to be believed.

The actress has been part of the franchise since the beginning as Letty and, despite being missing from a couple of them, she has become the wife of Dom Torreto which pretty much makes her the second highest character in the movie.

However, in recent time the actress has become rather vocal about the franchise treats women (negatively she argues) and as such it has thrown a potential spanner in the works regarding her returning.

Here’s what she had to say to Vanity Fair:

“I don’t know if I’m coming back. I have to read the script first. Once I read the script, I’ll know.

“When I read the script—and I hope that it’s inclusive—then I’ll agree to come back or not. My energy is completely directed toward the feminine right now and supporting women. I’ve spent most of my life shooting guns, and hanging out with the boys, and watching them scratch their balls, and smelling protein-mixed farts. And now I’m feeling the poetry and the beauty and the sensuality of women, and the power we bring together.

“So they need to show more love to the women. I don’t know which direction it’s going to go. But I know that I’m headed in that direction. We’ll see if that all matches.”

While the movies do have a lot of bikini-clad women, it also is arguably the most inclusive franchise currently in Hollywood and has had more than it fair share of tough, strong, beautiful women including Rodriguez’s Letty, Gal Gadot’s Gisele, Eva Mendes Monica, Nathalie Keeley’s Neela, Elsa Pataky’s Elena, Gina Careno’s Riley, Nathalie Emmanuel’s Ramsey, Ronda Rousey’s Kara and of course Charlize Theron’s Cipher.

That said, the actress feels the way she feels and we guess we can just wait and see if she returns, but given how her character has been developed over the last couple of movies, it’s likely she’ll have an integral role… so it’ll be interesting to see how it turns out.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife.
