According to the good folks over at StarWars.com, the first Star Wars spin off movie has a title – Rogue One.
Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced the title at a shareholder meeting at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco this morning. Rogue One will be directed by the man behind Monsters and last summers Godzilla movie Gareth Edwards, from a script by Cinderella and About a Boy scribe Chris Weitz. No news on casting yet, with Felicity Jones remaining the only cast member confirmed so far. The film begins shooting this summer in London and is due for release on December 16, 2016.
As well as this Iger has also confirmed that Looper director Rian Johnson will write and direct Star Wars Episode VII with a release date set for May 26th 2017 (coincidentally 40 years and a day since the release of A New Hope)
We’re loving the idea of Felicity Jones as an X-Wing pilot…
