New images of Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pratt and Karen Gillan filming on Thor: Love and Thunder

It looks like the cast of Thor 4 AKA Thor Love and Thunder is starting to shape up nicely.

Over the last few days we have new images of Chris Hemsworth once again rocking the long hair and, thankfully, having lost the gut, meaning he’s once more looking like the god of thunder rather than the Big Lebowski. Along with him, we have images of Chris Pratt back as Starlord, once again rocking the full-length leather coat:

Is it just us or does Thor look like an 80s rock icon? Or, knowing Taika Waititi, that’s kinda the point.

AS well as this, we have our first look at Karen Gillan back in costume as Nebula, another member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, who will feature heavily in the movie:

On top of this, in a new interview, Sam Neill has revealed that he’s expecting to return to the MCU: “I think the odds are reasonably high [that I’ll be in it].

“I think Taika’s got something up his sleeve. We will see what happens. Travel between [New Zealand] and Australia is problematic at the moment, but we will see if something can be worked out.”

Fans will recall that Neill had a cameo in Thor: Ragnarok (left) where he appeared as part of a drama troupe on Asgaard. In that scene, he appeared alongside Matt Damon who also has been cast in the movie it seems (here), so it’s likely we’ll see more hammy re-enactments of familiar events in this movie… although, given the calibre of these actors, it would be more satisfying to see them given roles then can get their teeth into.

In one last piece of Thor news, it seems that James Gunn, he of Guardians of the Galaxy fame, has been helping out with the movie – presumably in the same capacity he did in Avengers: Infinity War where he helped ensure the tone of the Guardians was maintained in the movie.

On Twitter Gunn was asked if he was consulting on the movie, to which he replied: “Yes. Have been doing. They’re in great hands with @TaikaWaititi”

So, there you have it, Thor: Love and Thunder is getting the band back together again. Possibly literally.

Thoughts?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
