New rumour says that Henry Cavill’s Superman will appear in both The Flash and Black Adam later this year

As recently as last month, we were reporting that Superman actor Henry Cavill may still be in talks to return as Superman following his appearances in Man of Steel and Batman V Superman (here).

We know that Cavill’s future appearances in the DCEU have been a bit up and down of late, with him being rumoured out, then in, then out, but a new rumour suggests that not only is he in, but we’ll be seeing him this year. Maye even twice.

Last we heard of (probably) Cavill’s Superman he was shot by Idris Elba’s Bloodsport before the events of The Suicide Squad (here) and we know that several Superman projects are in the works but not to feature Clark Kent (here), then we heard that The Flash and HBO Max’s Batgirl movie would erase Cavill’s Superman and Ben Affleck’s Batman from the DCEU completely (here) and, while we now know that Michael Keaton will appear as Batman in both these movies, we feared that perhaps this would ring true and Cavill was gone.

However, a new rumour online from scooper Nick’s Comics N’ Flicks is reporting that not only is Cavill back – and news perhaps coming soon, but he has filmed scenes for both Black Adam and The Flash, both of which arrive later this year.

Now we have heard in the past that DC/Warners had offered Cavill cameo roles in several upcoming DC movies (here), something Cavill wasn’t happy with and, funnily enough, the role that Keaton’s Batman seems to be now filling. We also heard that Cavill might appear in Black Adam fighting alongside the Justice Society of America as Dwayne Johnson wants Adam to meet Cavill’s Superman (here).

Personally, with Ben Affleck recently saying he’s out as Batman after his final appearance in The Flash (where he will also play Batman), saying “I don’t want to do IP movies where you have this sort of built-in audience,” I think it would be a mistake to get rid of Cavill too and it seems that Warner Bros and DC know how much fans love Cavill and want him to stay on as Superman and, with Cavill now being a big star and a busy man with The Witcher and more, maybe cameos suit him for now due to time restraints but, if this turns out to be true, I’d imagine Man of Steel 2 is only a matter of time.
