REPORT: Keanu Reeves offered Kraven the Hunter role by Sony UPDATED

February 9th, 2021 by Marc Comments

We’ve been reporting for over five years that Sony was looking to bring Spider-man villain Kraven the Hunter into reality in the form of a live-action movie (here) and we’ve also known for some time that Marvel/Disney have been trying to bring Keanu Reeves, star of Bill & Ted and John Wick, into the MCU and now, albeit in a roundabout sort of way, it looks like this is going to happen.

A new report has it that Sony has approached Reeves and offered him the role of Kraven in their standalone adventure which we reported some time ago (here) would feature the villain hunting down Spider-man.

According to the report, the movie will be called, simply, Kraven and will have a Logan/Man on Fire tone to it, which sounds like it could be superb.

We know Reeves is 56 now, so a one-and-done Kraven movie that sees him as an aging hunter looking to bag that one big kill – Spider-man – could be an epic outing.

Hollywood superstar Keanu Reeves has formally been offered a role in Sony’s Spider-Verse as classic Spider-Man villain, Kraven the Hunter.

We reported last year that A Most Violent Year’s JC Chandor has signed on to direct the movie (here) which is rumoured to pick its story elements from the iconic tale Kraven’s Last Hunt.

The movie will join Venom and Morbius in Sony’s standalone comic book universe but, like those movies, will be connected to the MCU while not necessarily being influenced by them… it also means we could see Reeves’ Kraven hunting down Tom Holland’s Spider-man – Hmmmmmmmm… might we see the black Spider-man costume if this happens?

Anyway, that’s all the news so far; what say you? Is Reeves the right choice to play Kraven? I want to hear your thoughts, gang.

UPDATE: It seems that Reeves may have been offered the role a number of months ago and turned it down but he is still looking for the right way into the MCU but he felt this was not it. More if and when we get it.
