Robert Orci writing mystery Sony Marvel movie as ‘Andrew Garfield returning as Spider-man’ rumours float around

March 20th, 2020 by Marc Comments

Some Sony Spider-man news for you tonight, folks, as we must remember that, as dark as it all seems right now, this will all pass and the world will snap back to reality (oh, there goes gravity).

First up, it seems The Amazing Spider-Man 2 co-writer Roberto Orci is set to write an untitled Marvel film for Sony, with details all being kept very hush-hush and nothing really being known except it will be set in the Sony Marvel universe which is kinda now the MCU thanks to Morbius (details here).

And while it’s more or less expected that the movie will be Spider-man related, it seems that it may not necessarily be the case, but who knows at this stage.

However, interestingly, a persistent rumour keeps bouncing about that Andrew Garfield, who played Peter Parker/Spider-man in The Amazing Spider-man movies, may be set to return to the role.

This would make sense as we’ve heard rumours for a while (here) that Sony wanted to set up a live-action Into The Spider-verse movie… could we see Garfield’s Spider-man meeting Tom Holland’s, perhaps? It’s also interesting because Orci was one of the ones behind The Amazing Spider-man movies, so he’s written for Holland’s Peter Parker before and Garfield has shown several times that not only is he a fan of the comics and the character, but was crushed when he lost the role.

Anyway, that’s the word on the nerdy street, folks… Orci writing a Marvel movie and Garfield tipped to return. What say you all?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
