Ryan Reynolds says he heard ‘he may be in’ the Snyder cut of Justice League – Green Lantern return?

August 4th, 2020 by Marc Comments

So, you may recall a few weeks back a big rumour was floating around that Ryan Reynolds was set to return as Green Lantern.

Not only was this to happen, it was to happen in the upcoming Zack Snyder’s Justice League on HBO Max. But, the twist? He won’t be the same Hal Jordan he played in the failed movie, but rather he’ll be the Hal Jordan from a different universe… welcome to the DC Multiverse.

Now, this isn’t as crazy as you might think, in fact, it makes sense in a lot of ways. Green Lantern was originally set to kick off the shared DC cinematic universe – which probably explains why it’s such a massive adventure – but its failure meant that task fell to Man of Steel instead.

However, the recent Arrowverse crossover event firmly established the universe of the current DC cinematic universe and that of the Green Lantern movie, while both existing, are not connected at all (here) –  so, in that respect, there’s no reason at all why Reynolds cannot return to the role albeit as a different version of the character we know already.

Confused? Don’t be, just go with it.

Then today there were rumours online that, no, Reynolds is not going to be Green Lantern again but rather is set to be Hawkman in the upcoming Black Adam movie.

And it bounced around so long that Reynolds took to twitter, writing “I’m not playing Hawkman in Black Adam. Although I generally do whatever the hell @TheRock tells me to do. I would however love to be in Zack Snyder’s Justice League movie and I’ve heard I may already be in it?”

Wait, go back… what?!

Now, sure, Reynolds is probably/possibly/maybe messing around here, trolling if you will, but what if he’s not? Here’s the full tweet:

Then Dwayne Johnson himself took to Twitter:

It seems to me that Reynolds and Johnson are having some fun with the fans… but what if they aren’t?

Could Reynolds have indirectly confirmed he is in Justice League and more than that, that he’s Green Lantern/Hal Jordan again?

Whatever it is, Reynolds is no stranger to promotion and he and the Rock are both getting the whole of Twitter chatting about the Snyder cut of Justice League and that is something very, very cool, indeed.

Anyway, let me know your thoughts, gang… is Reynold trolling? Or is he telling us he’s set to re-enter the DC cinematic universe? I’m betting we might be wiser in a few weeks when DC Fandome (here) spills the beans
