We all know there was a surprise screening of Deadpool on Monday night (here) and it was adored by, well, everyone, but afterwards Ryan Reynolds got chatting about the future of the movie… and who else might feature.

You know where this is going already, don’t you?

Anyway, at the event Reynolds was asked if there was any characters he’d like to see in the sequel (if it happens) and, echoing what Deadpool creator Tim Miller said a while back, Reynolds’ first answer was Taskmaster, however he is now back home with Marvel and off limits for FOX: “the studio just called us back and said ‘cha-ching,'” he joked.

Then one fan shouted out: “Cable and Deadpool!” to which Reynolds responded: “Your lips to God’s ears, my friend. Believe me, that’s being talked about,” before adding “If we don’t put Cable in Deadpool 2 I think we’ll be run out of town.”

It makes us wonder if perhaps we will finally see Miller and our first choice of Mad Men star John Hamm in the role… and just how close are they to a definite sequel?

Thoughts?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
