Spock to appear in Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 as Zachary Quinto teases ‘several’ new Trek movies

Star Trekkin’ across the universe, On the Starship Enterprise under Captain Kirk.
Star Trekkin’ across the universe, Only going forward, still can’t find reverse.
It’s life, Jim, but not as we know it, not as we know it, not as we know it;
it’s life, Jim, but not as we know it, not as we know it, Captain.

Spock is back, sing it from the roof tops, shout it along the street, here’s 20p to run out and call someone who gives a damn,  then tell the writers of the Big Bang Theory so they can milk a few tired jokes out of it because the news we have all waited for has finally been announced… Spock is going to be a character in the second season of Star Trek: Discovery but (and this is a big heart breaking but)…

According to director Jonathan Frakes (Star of The Next Generation), Spock will make his long-awaited appearance in the second episode, which Frakes is also directing, of the new season.

Frakes was waxing lyrical at the prestigious El Paso Comic Con and said that it would not be the adult Spock, this version will appear in flashbacks, where he’ll appear alongside his younger, adopted sister and Discovery protagonist, Michael Burnham and, despite being related to the lead character, Spock has only been briefly referenced in the first season.

There has been no word on the casting for this iteration of the legendary character, but I think we can rule our Zachary Quinto (above) who has been playing Spock in the JJ Abrams big screen outings, as he has recently been speaking about the fact that Paramount has multiple Star Trek movies in the pipeline.

Despite stinking out the box office in 2016 with Star Trek Beyond, there have been rumours circulating all over the internet about multiple possible Trek movies in the work including one that may be connected to Star Trek Beyond, one that is supposed to be scripted by Simon Pegg that will be a continuation of the Pine/Quinito universe and one that is to be scripted by Quentin Tarantino (if he doesn’t included the phrase  “Mother Pon Farrer” in the 1st18 rated trek movie why even bother).

In his recent interview when he was asked about the current state of Star Trek, Quinto said: “The only thing I can say is there’s a lot of energy around more movies, which ones are going to happen, which ones might happen first? I can’t really say, I don’t know honestly.

“I know there are lots of conversations being had about it. I know there are plans afoot to do at least one if not more movies… I know Paramount, under their new administration, is eager to keep the franchise going. I feel like as soon as we go reconvene and then there’s a script that the studio believes in and a director, whether it’s Quentin or somebody else, that comes up… Hopefully, we’ll move it all forward.

“I’m pretty sure Quentin is doing his other project, which he wrote, so that might kind of contextualize things in terms of the chronology of how we might make more than one movie, if we make more than one movie.”

There has been no official confirmation of any of these movies yet and I would speculate the least likely will be Tarantio’s version.

Are you a fan of Star Trek?

Does the thought of another person playing Spock get your motor running? Or do you feel the original series was perfection and nothing can ever replace it? Kirk or Picard? Urban or Kelly? Pegg or Doohan? Furiously bash the letters in on your keyboard into coherent well thought outarguments in the comments section below.
