SPOILERS: Zendaya’s character in Spider-man: Homecoming revealed…

June 10th, 2017 by Marc Comments

Ever since we found out that Zendaya was cast in Spider-man: Homecoming we, along with the whole internet, were pretty confident she was playing Mary Jane Watson (here).

Then it was announced that she was a character called Michelle and we sort of figured we might be wrong… but who was she playing?

Well now it seems we might actually know.

HERE BE SPOILERS

The new Junior Novelition of the movie has revealed that her surname is, wait for it… Toomes.

So, that’s Michelle Toomes. Remember, Michelle Keaton’s villain, The Vulture, is actually called Adrian Toomes in the movie.

So it looks like Michelle might actually be his daughter!

We know that Toomes in the movie is a down on his luck blue collar worker who feels the world – especially Tony Stark – owes him something. So he uses recovered alien tech from the invasion of New York (in the Avengers) to steal money and sell the tech on the black market… could some of this be to put his daughter throughout school?

Whatever the relationship Michelle has to Arian Toomes, you can bet it’ll make the hero/villain dynamic a lot more interesting in the movie.

What do you all think?

Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, young Peter Parker (Tom Holland) returns home to live with his Aunt May. Under the watchful eye of mentor Tony Stark, Parker starts to embrace his newfound identity as Spider-Man. He also tries to return to his normal daily routine — distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just a friendly neighborhood superhero. Peter must soon put his powers to the test when the evil Vulture emerges to threaten everything that he holds dear.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is directed by Jon Watts, from a screenplay by Jonathan M. Goldstein & John Francis Daley and Watts & Christopher Ford and Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers, and stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr.
