Star Wars Episode VII rumour control: The search for Luke Skywalker and Mandalorians and Sith Witches to feature

June 26th, 2014 by Marc Comments

It’s probably true to say that the Star Wars Episode VIInews and rumour machine is well and truly rumbling along like a Jawa Sandcrawler… isn’t it glorious?

This week the big story is that the latest Star Wars chapter will feature two classic is mostly EU groups – the Nightsisters, probably best represented in the Clone Wars animated series, and Jango Fett’s people, the Mandalorians.

Now the Nightsisters thing has been around for a while with a supposed leaked image looking like on (here) and then the rumor that actress Lupita Nyong’o could play a Nightsister (here) abd the Mandalorian thing is probably one of the biggest fan boy wishes.

Latino Review has reported that in the new movies the Jedi will have “Mercenary” enemies and they add that “Mandalorians will make a big appearance in the upcoming sequel “Star Wars: Episode VII.” If you’re asking who are Mandalorians it’s obvious that you’re not a Star Wars fan.”

Curiously, Sabine Wren in the upcoming animated series Star Wars Rebels is a Mando and this could tie into the rumours we’ve heard for a while that Rebels will be an ‘in’ for new fans and will set up things that we’ll see in the new movie…

Their source also adds that “a Sith Witch/Witches are in “”Star Wars: Episode VII.” We don’t know the name of the character(s) nor do we know if they’re loosely based on the Nightsisters of Dathomir, Dathomir of course being Darth Maul’s home world.”

In a related story, Aintitcool reports that: “Han Solo is pretty much the main character of EPISODE VII, leading a galaxy-wide search party for Luke Skywalker.”

So could these two stories tie in? Could the Mandos or Nightsisters have Luke? Perhaps the Jedi employ the Mandos to locate Luke as they are the best mercenaries in the universe… perhaps from the Nightsisters?

Who knows? But it’s great fun to speculate…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
