With the Chronicles of Narnia movies already three in with The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe (2005), Prince Caspian (2008) and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010), you’d imagine the next one would be the fourth installment.
Well you’d be wrong.
Probably.
Producer Mark Gordon says the latest movie in the C.S. Lewis-based series, The Silver Chair, is currently being prepped and will be a reboot.
Wait, what?
Last we heard Life Of Pi writer David Magee jad finished the script (in July), so we assume it’s this that is being made.
Gordon has said The Silver Chair will be going into production soon and added: “It’s all going to be a brand new franchise. All original. All original characters, different directors and an entire new team that this is coming from.”
We strongly suspect that this movie will not be a reboot per se, but rather simply part of the series that the other four movies belong to. The Silver Chair, as far as we understand – please tell us if we’re wrong – takes place long after the others, so while it will be completely different, it will still be in the same universe.
Probably. We think. Maybe.
Sigh.
