The fans want Miles Morales in the MCU and it looks like he may be coming…

June 26th, 2017 by Marc Comments

For many fans, Peter Parker isn’t the definitive Spider-man. For many it’s a young guy called Miles Morales.

Morales temporarily took over from Parker in the comics before becoming Ultimate Spider-man (there’s the two of them together above) and he’s been almost as successful as the original web head.

So much so that rumour was that Marvel, before they got access to Spider-man from Marvel, were planning on having Miles as the MCU Spider-man.

In fact, Chris Miller and Phil Lord – recently fired from the Han Solo movie – have an animated Spidey movie in development at Sony with Morales as the lead – although we doubt at this stage it’ll be related to the MCU.

However, Marvel movie boss Kevin Feige has hinted that Miles IS in the MCU somewhere: “In the meantime, I think Miles is a big part of the animated movie that Sony’s making. But where we go… we definitely want you to go ‘[Miles] is there. He’s there somewhere.’”

Interesting, given that SPOILERS it has been revealed that Donald Glover’s character in Spider-man: Homecoming is Aaron Davis who, reportedly (we haven’t seen the movie but have heard) mentions his nephew. Who is his nephew? Well, yup, it’s Miles Morales. Some people thought Glover may actually be playing Miles in the movie but he’s too old for the role, sadly.

In another interesting link, Davis in the comics is a villain called The Prowler and accidentally leads to Morales BECOMING Spider-man and Feige has said that “anything that’s happened in the books [can happen in the MCU.” SPOILERS END

So, there you have it.

With the whole debacle about the Sony Venom (and more) movies being related to the MCU… they are! They aren’t! Is it possible that Marvel are worried that Sony might pull the plug on their relationship and take Tom Holland’s Spider-man back? Is so, it’s a clever move to establish Miles Morales in their universe… just in case they find themselves without Peter Parker.

Add to this the news that one of the new mid-credit scenes in Homecoming was a last minute idea, is it possible we might see a second Spider-man hinted at in a few short weeks?

We’ll keep you posted as always…
