While Hannibal may be gone soon, Mads Mikkelsen is anything but, it seems.
First he’s confirmed as being in A Star Wars Story: Rogue One (here) and now it seems likely the actor will be a villain in the MCU, more specifically, Doctor Strange.
We’ve reported 18 months ago that Mikkelsen was set to be involved, although there was no idea in what way although a bad guy was likely… some of us thought as Strange himself (we’d still love that just for the record) but now it seems near certain he’ll be a villain.
Speculation can go on – Baron Mordo or Dormammu, heck, Marvel wanted him for Malekith in the Thor sequel – but we love the idea of him in the MCU.
Benditch Cumberbatch will play Stephen Vincent Strange, a former neurosurgeon who becomes the next Sorcerer Supreme and primary protector of Earth against magical and mystical threats. Marvel Comics artist Steve Ditko created the character in 1963. Swinton will play Strange’s mentor, the Ancient One, while Ejiofor will appear as Baron Mordo, who also studies magic under the Ancient One in the comic books, before becoming Doctor Strange’s nemesis.
Doctor Strange will conjure in on November 4th, 2016
