The Rock and Statham ARE being considered to star in a Fast & Furious spin-off movie!

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy…

The rumours last week that Vin Diesel was jealous of the screen time Jason Statham and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson got together in Fast & Furious 8 and of how good their onscreen chemistry was seemed like it might be a little unlikely, however when the story also said that Diesel didn’t like the idea that the two stars might get a spinoff together then maybe it made sense (read the full story here).

And now  it looks like there really was something to it as it’s now looking like the two stars may indeed be getting their own spin-off movie. Along with Charlize Theron’s new villain to the franchise, Cipher.

Variety are reporting that “the studio is considering a spin-off featuring Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs, Jason Statham’s Decker Shaw, and Charlize Theron’s Cipher with series architect Chris Morgan penning the script.”

They are reporting that the studio wanted a Hobbs, played by the Rock, spin-off as far back as Fast 5 (we’ve been repotting this for a while now) but in all honesty were unsure how to move forward with it until Statham joined the franchise with this latest installment but there’s now more than just Statham being considered (minor spoilers in next quote): “The addition of Theron has only recently been considered by the studio given how well the villain went over in the latest pic, and since she does escape in the end, there is an opening for her to appear not just in the next “Fast and Furious” film but in possible spin-offs as well.”

The only thing that’s known for sure is that Johnson is tied to other projects until 2018 so it’s unlikely we’ll be seeing anything happen until 2019 or later.

Thoughts on a Deckard & Hobbs movie, gang?
