Waititi and Hemsworth are talking about making Thor: Ragnarok 2

January 14th, 2018 by Marc Comments

While Thor: Ragnarok is an undeniably enjoyable bit of cinema, many of us here at FTN felt that is went too far into the comedy arena and didn’t allowed any of the gravitas of the story to come through properly.

But the movie was a massive success, so what do we know?

Anyway, it looks like Thor 4 is something director Taiki Waititi and star Chris Hemsworth are already talking about.

So will there be a Thor 4? It’s learned Chris Hemsworth and Taiki Waititi have discussed it. Speaking to USA Today, Hemsworth said: “We gave cheers to Thor 3. But it also was like what could we do with four? We could do this and this. We were throwing ideas around. But also, just to work together again. That was one of the most enjoyable creative partnerships I’ve ever had.”

However, it seems that it all depends on how Avengers: Infinity War turns out (after all, there has been many rumours and speculations that some of The Avengers may die fighting Thanos): “It just depends on how The Avengers [movies] all wrap up,” Hemsworth said.

“I finished shooting and now they are going to edit it and see how the stories play out. There are so many interwoven scenes and stories and characters. [Another Thor movie] is a conversation for further down the road, if it happens.”

Waititi too is open to coming back, saying: “I’d do another one because it wouldn’t even feel like doing a fourth Thor film, it would just feel like doing the second Ragnarok film.”

“Chris [Hemsworth] feels a real new ownership over the character. He’s excited, and he knows that character so well [and] if Chris were to do this again it wouldn’t feel like ‘oh it’s the eighth time I’ve done Thor,’ no it will feel like the second or third time I’ve done this character.”

Waititi continued that it’s not just he and Hemsworth that would be on for coming back: “Same with Mark Ruffalo,” he continues, “His version of Banner is a brand new version which is way more interesting. And dare I say it, more human. They’re the more human versions of the character because I feel like the audience can relate to them right off the bat.”

Would you welcome Waititi, Hemsworth and Ruffalo back for, em, Ragnarok 2? Let us know…

Oh and here’s a gag reel from Thor: Ragnarok:

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
