It seems like forever since we’ve had an update on the Community movie, heck, these days four years is forever, but I can report that it’s still happening, and the latest update comes from Donald Glover.
Glover is probably the biggest star of the Community team now, with a big acting career and as the musician Childish Gambino. Indeed, at one stage, creator Dan Harmon worried that Glover would be the one cast member they might not be able to get, but now, four years after Peacock officially ordered a movie, the star confirms it’s still happening.
The movie would follow on from the show’s sixth and final season in 2015 (11 years!!!) and would fulfil the prophecy of ‘six seasons and a movie’.
Dan Harmon says everyone should be back for the Community movie and that includes Donald Glover!
“We’re working on it right now,” Glover told Entertainment Tonight, below, adding: “I know everybody’s been saying that for forever, but I swear to you, I’m not lying about this. I really think that something is gonna happen soon.”
Glover says that he and his co-stars “were just on the text chain talking about it”.

We do, as of now, know that the script by Harmon and Andrew Guest is done and the full cast of Glover, Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, Ken Jeong and Brown are all signed on to return.
So, all the pieces are in place and while we know that McHale, praised for his role in Scream 7, will be filming Scream 8 in the coming months but it would be nice to get an update on when the Community series is going to go before cameras because these guys are getting much too old to be attending community college now, But maybe that’s the joke.
