You may remember we reported a couple of days ago that the full trailer for Cars 3 was going to hit on ESPN on January 9th during the College Football Playoff National Championship at 8:00 p.m. ET (here).

Then out of the blue today we have this new footage, dubbed Teaser #2.

So we reckon this is just an intro to the three main cars in the movie… and we’re still confident that the trailer is coming because, well, this isn’t a trailer.

Are we the only ones feeling that Disney/Pixar are simply showing off how great their animation is getting rather than pushing a new actual movie?

Anyway, check it out below and check in on Monday for the trailer.

Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician with her own plan to win, inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet, and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage!

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
