We’ve been reporting on the Lando Calrissian Disney+ series for a while now and it was pretty quiet for a couple of years but over the last few weeks, it’s all kicked off.
Originally planned as a movie after Community Star Donald Glover played Lando in Solo: A Star Wars Story, the story was then redressed as a TV series with Haunted Mansion writer Justin Simien penning it and then, just a couple of weeks back, it was revealed that Simien was off the project (“It seems like I develop things with these companies and they just never happen for reasons unknown.”) and it would, instead, be written by Glover and his brother Stephen Glover.
And we were excited for this.
However, now it seems that it’s no longer a TV show but… a movie!?
Yes, there are Star Wars movies too, hard to believe as it may be
Stephen Glover revealed the movie news on the Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast, below, saying: “It’s not even a show, the idea right now is to do a movie. Right now, because of the strike, it’s kind of like telephone, all of the information.”
It has since been confirmed that yes, Glover’s reveal is spot on.
Personally, I loved Glover’s Lando and would really hope that somehow we see Alden Ehrenreich return as Han too – that story that was left hanging at the end of Solo: A Star Wars Story, has been one that we’ve all wanted to see resolved since the movie came out in 2018. Perhaps the project is a movie because they want to tell a much bigger story? Who knows?
What we do know is that, at least for now, we’ve got a Lando movie coming in the future and that’s pretty exciting news… but let’s hope they get Billy Dee Williams involved too.
Thoughts? I know you have them! Voice-off in the usual ways on FTN’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
