Holy crap! I mean, really, holy crap!

Remember The Banana Splits from being a kid?

The Banana Splits Adventure Hour was made between 1968 and 1970 and was a bizarre series sort of like The Monkees but with guys dressed in big animal suits (Bingo, Fleegle, Drooper and Snorky, fact fans!). I recall it being played on repeat as a kid and I always thought they were a bit creepy… and I’m convinced it’s where the Five Nights at Freddy’s games came from.

Well now it seems I wasn’t the only one who thought it was creepy because it’s just been revealed as a movie coming to SYFY later this year and it’s a flat-out horror!

In the movie “A boy named Harley and his family (brother Austin, mother Beth, and father Mitch) attend a taping of The Banana Splits TV show, which is supposed to be a fun-filled birthday for young Harley and business as usual for Rebecca, the producer of the series. But things take an unexpected turn — and the body count quickly rises. Can Harley, his mom and their new pals safely escape?”

The film stars Dani Kind (Wyonna Earp), Finlay Wojtak-Hissong (The Kindness of Strangers), Romeo Carere, Steve Lund (Schitt’s Creek) and Sara Canning (The Vampire Diaries).

Danishka Esterhazy (Level 16) directed from a script by Jed Elinoff & Scott Thomas.

The beloved children’s show is back… with a vengeance, a horrible, bloody vengeance. Starring Dani Kind, Finlay Wojtak-Hissong, and Romeo Carere. Premiering on SYFY later this year.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
