WATCH: Trailer drops for HP Lovecraft horror adaptation Colour Out Of Space starring Nicholas Cage

November 7th, 2019 by Marc Comments

Holy crap, this looks mental and brilliant and terrifying!

Nicholas Cage, hot on the heels of the mind-breaking Mandy, stars in Colour Out Of Space, an alien horror movie based on a short story by HP Lovecraft.

The movie is directed by Hardware’s Richard Stanley, marking his first movie since 1996’s Island of Dr Moreau which, em, didn’t end too well for him. Or anyone, really.

And as if that’s not enough, it looks like this is the beginning of Lovecraft shared universe.

SpectreVision’s Elijah Wood and Daniel Noah saying the plan is to “build out a Lovecraft universe”.

They added that they are developing The Dunwich horror and that hopefully there’s “enough of an appetite for these things, and we can keep them going and make at least three of them” as they feel Lovecraft is “such an important voice in horror.”

The duo went on to say that while Lovecraft has plenty of movie adaptations, no-one has ever tried to do them right or create something like this before.

I swear that if this is as good as it looks and truly the start of a Lovecraft universe, then they can take all my money.

On top of Mandy and Colour Out Of Space, Cage is continuing into the world of crazy horror with his next movie, Wally’s Wonderland.

The movie from director Kevin Lewis will see Cage “play a janitor forced to spend the night in a twisted amusement park where he is pulled into a living nightmare.”

“As the threatening animatronic characters come to life, the janitor has to fight his way from one monster to another to survive until morning and get out of the park.”

Just when you thought Nicholas Cage couldn’t get any more awesome.

What say you all?

After a meteorite lands in the front yard of their farm, Nathan Gardner (Nicolas Cage) and his family find themselves battling a mutant extraterrestrial organism as it infects their minds and bodies, transforming their quiet rural life into a living nightmare. Based on the classic H.P. Lovecraft short story, Color Out of Space is “gorgeous, vibrant and terrifying” (Jonathan Barkan, Dread Central).

Colour Out OfSpace, starring Nicolas Cage, Joely Richardson, Madeleine Arthur, Brendan Meyer, Julian Hilliard, Elliot Knight, Josh C. Waller, Q’orianka Kilcher and Tommy Chong.

Directed by Richard Stanley Written by Richard Stanley and Scarlett Aramis.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
