We first reported in October 2015 (here) and then again in January 2016 (here) that Die Hard 6 would see Bruce Willis return as John McClane but also… another actor return too.
Huh?
Well, basically the idea is that Willis will appear at the beginning of the movie as the older McClane and will relay the events of the story that took place BEFORE we first met him in Die Hard. He would then return late in the movie to finish the story – the events of which will cover both time periods in McClane’s life.
The movie will be directed by Live Free Or Die Hard’s Len Wiseman, who said of casting the young McClane: “The right casting for this role is crucial. Those bare feet have some very big shoes to fill.”
Wiseman called the movie Die Hard Year One in 2015, so far as we know it is still called that:

Although Jai Courtney played Jack McClane in A Good Day To Die Hard, the reaction wasn’t good (mostly because the movie was utterly dire) and it seems that this is another attempt to reboot the Die Hard franchise with a new actor in the role playing McClane as a rookie cop in the 1970s.
As far back as 2010 Willis has been talking up the idea of handing the reigns over, telling Showbiz Spy: “In the next few years they could easily find a replacement for me or call the character someone else. But for me, I want to do Die Hard 5, then one final Die Hard movie — Die Hard 6 — before finally hanging that white vest up for good.
“At the moment, I can run and I can fight on screen. But there will come a time when I no longer want to do that. That’s when I’ll step away from the Die Hard films.”
Look, we’ll not say there’s no chance this could be good, but as far as we’re concerned McClane’s story started in the first movie… we’re not sure we really care who he was before he met Hans Gruber.
Are we wrong? Are you excited? Let us know your thoughts…
