While we’re all looking forward to Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon on Netflix, with the first movie arriving this Christmas, many, myself included, thought his previous franchise attempt at the streamer, Army of the Dead, was, well… dead.
But no, it seems that, while it’s all slowed down, there is still more of this world to come.
Firstly, the planned animated series, Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, has stalled for ‘technical reasons’ whatever that means and there are still plans to do the sequel to the first movie but it seems Snyder is trying to work out when to do it as he’s now deep into the Rebel Moon series.
“I was trying to figure out the cadence and how we would go forward and whether we’re going to do the Army of the Dead sequel and then come back and do another one of these [Rebel Moon] movies if it’s desired,” Snyder says.

“Because Army goes completely nuts. If we were to make another Army movie other than…the Mathias [Army of Thieves] arm of Army Universe has its own thing happening, but the main trunk gets pretty twisted as it goes up. And then to have these two things, it would be nice…because you could kind of go back and forth between the two [universes].”
Army of the Dead was a solid hit for Netflix (even if sequel/spinoff Army of Thieves was not), so it’s likely Netflix want Snyder to get the franchise up and running again… could he soon have two massive franchises on the go at Netflix? Well, it’s definitely not impossible.
Are you excited about another Army of the Dead movie or series? I was very excited for the first movie in 2021 and was completely disappointed with it BUT I’d keen to see a sequel if it can rectify and improve on what went before.
